In an effort to connect its brand with a healthy environment, Audi of American recently announced it will be working with a community solar provider. The partnership will allow new 2021 Audi e-tron Sportback or base e-tron owners or lessors to subscribe to an Arcadia service for up to five years. Arcadia has a portfolio of renewable energy projects, ranging from community solar to wind energy developments.
Through the partnership between Audi and Arcadia, new drivers of the Audi e-tron or Sportback option could save up to $750 in energy costs. The community solar provider subscription will allow customers to become participants in programs intended to reduce carbon emissions and improve the local environment. Audi will run the program from March 2 until the end of April, while e-tron supplies last.
Arcadia has built up a sizable community solar portfolio across New York, Rhode Island, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, and Colorado. When a customer purchases a qualified Audi, they will receive access to one of these solar projects. The community solar provider will grant them access to a unit of energy generated by the development. As part of the program, subscribers will also receive monthly bill credits that will reflect on their monthly utility statements.
This isn’t the first time Audi has participated in an environmentally-sound partnership with a community solar provider. In 2018 and 2020, Audi of America partnered with Arcadia with the same intent. The e-tron has been the vehicle of choice for these collaborations because it is an electronic vehicle. According to the United States Department of Energy, owners of electric vehicles do approximately 80% of their charging at their house. By granting them access to community solar options, Audi is encouraging customers to switch to eco-friendly vehicle options.
Along with the partnership with Audi, the community solar provider recently announced that it will be bringing community solar options into Maine.
